Opaleye Point 2/15
Saturday afternoon on the way to work I stopped by the slime pit for a few gallons of enteromorpha. Looks like it's dying off somewhat, there wasn't as much around as last week. Nonetheless I found a clump of the dark-green long and stringy grade A stuff.
All conditions this morning at Opaleye point were optimum with the water color a perfect pukey green. There was minimal breeze and even though the swells were up, the water wasn't unfishable.
Jack, we sucked. All day Long.
Breakwall Darryl and I tried Opaleye Point for an hour without any hits before we hiked over to the ledge. In the hour and a half we were here, Darryl managed to land the day's only fish, a zebraperch. As detritus eaters, they will take algae, but they don't taste very good. Without any more nibbles, we went back to Opaleye Point during the peak of the tide, which equated to no hits for another half-hour.
We trudged back up the trail and drove over to Long Point to see if the opaleye might be hanging out over there. The swells were really big here. Still, there was ample time to at least notice nibbles during the lulls between sets. Yet there were none.
